CCRN Review Online Course Curriculum
This CCRN Review Course covers all of the fundamental topics expected to be encountered on the Adult CCRN Exam and follows the 2020-2021 Adult CCRN Test Plan. The goal of the program is to enhance the Registered Nurse's knowledge and skills necessary to meet the needs and care for the critically ill patient. Upon completion of the program the registered nurse will have the tools necessary to successfully pass the Adult CCRN Exam.
Module 1 – Endocrine System
This module discusses the various functions and disease pathophysiology affecting the endocrine system. Topics include assessment and treatment modalities associated with conditions such as Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone (SIADH), Diabetes Insipidus, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypoglycemia, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), and Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar Non-Ketotic Syndrome (HHNK).
Module 2 – Neurological Assessment
This module discusses neurological assessment and various diseases that affect the neurologic system. Topics covered include Head Trauma, Cerebral Events, Neurologic Infectious Diseases, and Seizure Disorder.
Module 3 – Gastrointestinal System
This module discusses various diseases that affect the Gastrointestinal System. Topics include Acute Abdominal Trauma, Bowel Obstruction, Hepatic Failure, Acute GI Bleed, and Pancreatitis. The Registered Nurse will be able to identify complications associated with these diseases and appropriate interventions.
Module 4 – Hematologic Disorders
This module reviews various Hematologic Disorders commonly encounter in the acute care/critical care setting. The Registered Nurse will learn how to identify, treat, and manage patients with diseases such as disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT), and Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP).
Module 5 – Renal System
This module discusses the various functions and diseases affecting the renal systems. Topics include causes and treatment for Acute Renal Failure, Chronic Renal Disease, and Life Threatening Electrolyte Imbalances.
Module 6 – Psychology/Ethics
This module discusses behavioral and psychosocial disorders that may be encountered in the acute care/critical care setting. Topics include Acute Delirium and Dementia, Mood Disorders and Depression, Substance Abuse Disorders, and Suicidal Behavior.
Module 7 – Cardiovascular Disease
This module discusses basic cardiovascular anatomy and physiology and disease processes affecting the cardiovascular system. The registered nurse will be able to identify, treat, and care for the patient with acute cardiovascular disease. Topics covered include Myocardial Infarction, Pulmonary Edema, Cardiogenic Shock, and Dysrhythmia.
Module 8 – Pulmonary
This module discusses basic pulmonary anatomy and physiology and disease processes affecting the pulmonary system. The registered nurse will be able to identify, treat, and care for the patient with acute pulmonary disease. Topics covered include ARDS, Acute Respiratory Failure, Acute Pulmonary Embolism, Acute Reactive Airways Diseases.
Module 9 – Multisystem
This module discusses acute processes that can result in multi organ system failure. Topics covered include Septic Shock, Multisystem Trauma, Drug Toxicity, and Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS).
